This "cookie cutter" braiding tutorial is the first official hairstyle of 2014 uploaded on Princess Hairstyles.com! Happy New Year everyone!
And, contrary to the old saying... we did not name this braid the "cookie cutter" because it is ordinary or standard. This braid is quite the opposite actually and looks quite unique. ;) We named it this because the shape of the braid really reminds us a lot of some cookie cutters we have in our kitchen drawer, which are stacked together with the smallest one in the middle and the largest on the outside. Do any of you have a set like this and know what we are talking about?
A close up of the braid.....
This cute hairstyle is inspired by an idea we saw on Pinterest awhile back and is actually very similar to the scallop edge braid we posted back in 2012. As you will see in our video tutorial below, it is yet another variation of the Feather Braid.
Of course, there are several ways you could utilize this braiding technique to make different hairstyles. If you would rather wear your hair all up, you could feather a French braid (or Dutch braid) and create this cookie cutter look laying on top of the braid. The feathered strands could also each be braided, instead of left plain (like we did here) for another look. Depending on the length of hair you are working with, you can do more or less loops along the edges of the braid.
